🌙 LUCHELLA 2020 🌙

What a celebration of life this day was, filled with all of Luna's favourite things and shrouded in the love and support of all our nearest and dearest 💗

After the devastating loss of our Luna Bear 🦄 we knew we had to do something special to honour our girl and could think of no better way to celebrate her life, than to throw a big party. Lucky for us, every day was a party for Lu. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her would know how much she loved them, so much so that talked about it almost every day. Often saying things like “Can I have this for me party tomorrow?” or “I’m going to wear this to my party tomorrow” and if you were in her bad books she’d say “You’re not coming to my party tomorrow” 😂 So we knew what we had to do, we just had no idea how we were going to pull off in such a short time.

When we brought Lu home we were lucky enough to be surrounded by the love and support of family and friends, all of whom were 110% behind us, giving us their all to ensure we had everything we needed. We were asked what we wanted for her service and the first thing that came to mind was Disneyland 🎠🎡, “We want to give her Disneyland!”. You might think that such a massive request would elicit some weird looks, or even a gentle shutdown, but you’d be wrong. Not once did anyone say we couldn’t do it! 💕

Given that it was so close to Christmas we relied heavily on the support of strangers to help us pull it all together. We did however realise quickly that there was no way we were going to be able to get amusement rides at such short notice and so close to Christmas. So we had to think of the next best thing, if the Kardashians can do Kidchella, we can do Luchella right, nothing was going to stopping us now, Luchella 2020 was born! 🎈🎉

In the midst of Covid and all of our grief and loss, we achieved the impossible. With Timi’s sister-in-law Ngawai at the helm, we were in the safest possible hands as nothing was too hard or too much for her to handle. What she managed to pull together in a matter of days was nothing short of spectacular 😍 and as a family, we will be forever in her debt!

Restrictions at the time limited us to 200 guests, which we knew wasn’t going to cut it for us. So with the help of Hide and Seek markets we took that number up to 1500. We wanted to be able to give as many children as possible the opportunity to enjoy the day with their families and to share in Luna’s magic. We enlisted all of Luna’s favourite things including a petting zoo, jumping castles, bubble play, live music, a special performance from Luna’s dance studio, stilt walkers and paw patrol characters, a reptile show, popcorn and fairy floss stations, bracelets making tables, a magic show, hula hoop performers, food trucks, unicorn pony rides, picnic tables, lawn letters, face painting, a glitter station and lots of balloons and special Luna treats for all to enjoy! Everyone was invited to dress up and that’s exactly what they did, from superheros to fairy princesses, the day was covered in every colour of the rainbow 🌈

We’d like to thank each and every one of you who helped make Luchella such a special day for us, for giving up your time and generously donating your services so that we could give our girl the party she truly deserved! From the bottom of our hearts, THANKYOU!!
